Power up!

I am pleased to announce that the power is back!!!!! Yea! I hope to get to my sewing activities tomorrow. So glad that the power is on again. Life is much easier with electricity. I would like to make a couple quilts to donate to Sandy relief efforts. I will get going on that! The devastation is terrible. I can't imagine losing my home like so many people have. My heart goes out to them.

No power-thank you Sandy!

Well, I lost power during the night thanks to hurricane Sandy. We have a new generator but not going to use my sewing machines on it. Not sure if the power is steady enough. Why is it that when I can't sew I really want too?  I wonder how long the outage will be. Last year it was out for eight days. Hope not that long again!  Hope everyone came thru the storm alright. Quilt retreat

What a wonderful retreat! Six days of quilting in wonderful Bird In Hand PA. We stay at the Amish View Inn. When we first see each other it is catch up time, how are you, what have you been up to, and isn't it great to be back? We set up our machines, pull out our projects and get to it. Marge is our fearless leader, she keeps us organized and tries to maintain order. There were about 24 of us this time, what a big group! We worked on quilts using 2.5" strips. Marge provided eight different patterns in case we needed inspiration. I made two quilts and one table topper that might make its way to Christmas gifts! As our week progressed we juggled sewing with shopping for fabric a dilemma that is just too much fun! The retreat ended just in time for all of us to hurry home and prepare for hurricane Sandy! Here are a few pics from last week.

Quilt Retreat next week!

I went back to South Dakota twice in the last two weeks and feel the crunch getting ready to go. We leave Saturday for DC on a business trip for Steve. He will stay and on Tuesday I will drive on to PA for my retreat! I have retreated a few times with these ladies and they are a blast. Marge Gordon of Delaware Quilters leads the retreat. This year we are working on quilts that use 2.5" strips and we have 6 patterns to choose from. I can't wait to start. I made a mug rug for her and one for myself today. I think they are cute! While at this retreat we have plenty of time for shopping and sight seeing!
